Default High load vibration through shifter?

Only on high load in gear do I get this vibration, you can hear it pretty good. First gear you cant hear it, second is iffy, really depends what rpm I stick it at. If I jump on it in 3rd gear from about 2000-2500 and give it a load it will start to vibrate the shifter on me. I have a lot of poly bushings but this just seems abnormal. Any ideas on what I can look at or check for would be appreciated. I already checked all the bolts I could think of and they were all tight.

ttt, i could barely hear it in 2nd gear but AS SOON AS i slammed 3rd bam, it was rattling the shifter like a son of a bitch. anyone have ANY IDEAS? seems to only be high loading issues as if i just roll into the throttle it wont happen.

i wonder if it could be in the pinion angle? or? it seemed to happen just after the new clutch, which replaced the slipping clutch....

I had this same problem with my Camaro after I got a new clutch. I kinda liked the sound, it scared my friends . But don't worry about it, it will go away the more you drive it. Mine was back to normal after about 500 miles.

Do you have a B&M ripper shifter, or a Hurst? I have a ripper in my C5 Z06, and it is exactly the same. I doubt it will go away, and only seems to be getting worse as the shifter loosens up. Currently looking at the possibility of a C6 Z06 shifter.

The stock Hurst shifter with the stock rubber bushed stick shouldn't be causing that (that sounds more like what my Ripper does). I went from a poly tranny mount back to a rubber one, and it subsided a lot (but it is still there). I'll have to see what it sounds like when I get my poly motor mounts in.

With that info, I think you may have hypochondria of the car I'd expect that noise with that setup.

I too just put in a new clutch and mine is worse now. I had my motor balanced, and new LS7 clutch balanced prior to install. Did you do anything to the car to increase horsepower? This can increase the amount of energy creating the harmonics in the shifter making it louder. I agree with the rubber bushing idea instead of the poly. They are better at damping noise/vibration. B@M just came out with a new shifter for the C5 vette, you might give their technical assistants a call to see if there is a new F-Body equivalent. I recently put a very heavy steel shift **** on the car, and it did a great job of changing the harmonics and it all but eliminated the problem.

only thing i really did was put in a cltuch that was heavier, ls7, and new rear shocks. I am thinking that the new clutch is gripping a lot better then the spec and now taht it puts the power down it may have made thsi happen

How much power are you putting to the rear wheels. I am currently around 405 - 420 awaiting Dyno. Shifter harmonics are worse since I changed out clutch, but I also added a lot of power. I agree with you that the increased grip from the clutch might be responsible for this. Currently choices to fix are to use a very heavy shift **** that will dampen the harmonics, install a C6 Z06 shifter, or install the new B&M ripper with the vibration dampening handle.
Cost respectively will be approx. 100, 150, and 200.

power numbers are in sig, thats about to change real soon though

i think the added weight of the clutch could be the big player in changing harmonics
