m6 hard to get to go into 2nd and 3rd gear

m6 hard to get to go into 2nd and 3rd gear when i run the car hard, i cant get the trans to go into 2nd or 3rd. 3rd gear is the worst. i have to shift at 4000-4200 just to make it go in. also when gearing down 2nd and 3rd will pop out of gear. just curious to see if anyone else has experienced it or know a way to fix w/o a rebuild.
