Transmission Fluid

I'm getting ready to change mine, just wondering if there are any write-ups on this?

I'm new to the LS1 scene so excuse the newbie questions about changing the fluid, have no idea what i'm doing............

For the T56 there is a plug that you put a 3/8 drive rachet into on the passenger side, it says drain near it cast into the side of the transmission.
On the drivers side there is the same type plug I'm pretty sure it says fill near it.
It takes four quarts dexron 3.
I used a hose adapter for the fluid bottles and rolled them up like a tooth paste tube to get all the fluid in there.

I find it easier to fill it from the shifter. Taking apart the console is 1000x less aggrevating then being underneath the car trying to fill that bugger.

I put synthetic in mine and it didnt shift as smooth as with conventional, i'm guessing the syncros like the conventional better so I drained the synthetic and put conventional back in. I know you can do it through the shifter but since I dint want to take the console apart and risk dripping ATF inside my car I bought a "turkey bastor" style pump from Autozone for like $10. It looks like a grease gun, only with a clear hose on the end. It worked well, I used it when I changed my rear end fluid too...

Wait, you can fill them from the top? I'll do mine tomorrow! So just pour the fluid in the shifter well? Whats teh best type of fluid?

I used mobile 1 atf synthetic, and is working very well. Everyone has their own opinions on this topic. I used what was reccommended to me by a very reputable shop.
