Default MN6 or MM6?

this is not a flame post, but has anyone looked in the gm order guide before determining that the six speed option is a MN6? I have seen it in the GM order guide as MM6....(my dad sells them) can anyone shed light on this?? Maybe there are two codes? It just seems iritating to me if EVERYONE is calling it wrong. If you all are calling it right, then peace..

Both codes describe the car as a 6 speed. I pulled the SPID sheet (Service Parts IDentification) up on a 6 speed car and it shows:
MN6- merchandising code for vehicle with provisions for manual transmission.

MM6- Borg Warner T56 manual transmission.

So MM6 is the code for the actual transmission, while MN6 means the car is made to accept a manual trans.

I also pulled the SPID sheet on an automatic.

MX0- Vehicle has provisions for automatic trans.

M30- 4L60E 4 speed electronic automatic.
