Default Disappointed with RAM

I'm not here to bash the hell out of Ram, or anything like that, I just thought I should share my most recent encounters with a RAM powergrip HD and the customer service from RAM. I had my hd in for a total of 3 weeks and about 600 miles before it blew up. I had never even taken the car above 3500rpms, babied it everywhere and most of the miles were light city driving. Needless to say I wasnt impressed with the Ram at first, I began to like it up until one day when the car decided it didnt like the clutch. I was driving about 40mph in 4th gear at 1800rpms when all of a sudden I lost all of my gears and the clutch would not engage at all. I had it towed and now 3 weeks later am having to buy a new clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing and repair the damage done to the bellhousing due to the disk tearing itself apart inside the tranny. Now mind you, my car is a lightly modded bolt on car, that dynoed well under 350rwhp and has never seen anything other than street tires. I had ZERO track passes on the car when the clutch blew up, and had not even thought about downshifting or launching hard yet. I emailed ram about this and the response they gave me was that the clutch failed due to driver error and there was nothing they could do to help me. So now I am left with having to spend another $500-$600 to replace an almost brand new clutch that failed on me. I dont know about anybody elses experiences on here with this clutch or their customer service, but I do know alot of my friends that have had the exact same problems and were treated exactly the same by RAM. I have chosen to go with a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch, and hopefully their customer service is at least willing to help out their customers. I have faith in will baty and centerforce, so if this clutch goes I'm either going automatic or with an ls7 clutch. Sorry for the novel, but as you can tell i'm a little pissed off and just want everyone else to be aware of my experience with them, and hopefully you will not have the same problems as me.

Did you have someone else install the clutch?

Well well well..... I can't say I'm glad but at least its not only me. I just put my Textralia in my car tonight replacing my RAM Powergrip. I had the clutch longer than you with about 13k on it. Made about 7 passes on it and was told the clutch could handle up to 500 rwhp. I got about 400. So far my damn stock clutch has lasted the longest. Anyway I had almost the same problem but I made it home. What happened with mine was the damn dampner spring just blew right out and took out another 2 springs and even bent the clutch plate near the spring hole. i called Ram and he said he has never heard of that and that it must be caused by wheel oscillation or something. At least I had it in my car for almost 10 months. Needless to say, along with Spec 3 I wont be going back.

Just for the record when I changed it I replaced everything and it always chattered even with 4:10's.

I am on my third RAM HD in 15 months. 1st went well until I wrecked the car. Second was improperly install or faulty manufacturing, and the 3rd has less than 1000 miles on a head/cam car and is failing.

I am nervous about the purple RAM HD box I have sitting in my living room now. ****. Right after I order it, what do you know, 3-4 threads pop up about Ram HD troubles.

Why does it seem like you have to spend $1000 on a clutch to not have problems with a T56? Every cltuch under $600 has a TON of negative reviews on here. Hmmm, makes me wonder.

you have to remember how many more people have the under $600 clutch as opposed to the # of people that have the $1000 dollar clutchs
