Guys, I'm telling you, double-clutching is the way to do it. At first, I thought all of you people were just renaming the term "double-clutch" but it I'm clear now that you consider it a different method. This "rev matching" method is an incorrect way of properly downshifting. It's no wonder that so many people on here have so many transmission problems... When you press in the clutch and "rev match" you're tearing up the throw-out bearing. NEVER hit the gas when the clutch is pressed. Even if it's just a little blip, you're still putting tremendous amounts of stress on the throw-out bearing. I don't care if it's a quicker method, it's also a quicker method of breaking it, as well. Stick with double-clutching and get out of the habit of "rev matching."

if its so bad then how come hardly anyone has problems with their throw out bearings, last time i checked most people replace clutches due to the disc being worn out

I can tell you every car ive ever driven ive rev matched and did not double clutch and ive had no problems with throw out bearings, this isnt the 1950's and we now have synchros, use them.

Well I know that at virtually every light im at I rock n roll it. I leave it in first and just clutch in.. roll back.. slide clutch out.. gas and rock forward.... wash rinse and repeat.. Half the time clutch is half in and gas is being babied.. Granted I never learned how to drive a stick when I got my driver's license umm wow ages ago )

So I sadly taught myself.. *knock on wood* 30k miles on the baby and on stock clutch still, no problems.

I'm sure it isnt the best thing for the car.. but call me too lazy to sit at the light in nuetral with the brake pressed..

Anyways.. I guess with practice I could learn to double-clutch.. but damn I went out tonight for ***** n giggles and tried it.. and damn I was like a retard hehe.. 4 seconds to shift gears lol... I mean hell with these tranny's you can disengage the gear without even hitting the clutch.. and only use the clutch to put it into gear.. which is what I do when Im racing

Now how bad is that? )

You've probably never checked your throw-out bearing, either...
Besides, the throw-out bearing causes various other transmission problems later on, down the road. Replace it and it's a difference of night and day.
Synchros help with clutch engagement. Throw-out bearings help with clutch dis-engagement. So, when you're saying, "use the synchros" you're not supporting your point lol.

Just match the revs and you will be fine.
