On my 02 WS6 with Hurst shifter, the leather shifter boot cover isn't attached to the bottom of the shifter ****...should it be? It always drops so you can see about an inch or two of the actual shaft. It seems like the top of the boot should somehow be attached to the ****?

If it should be attached, what part am I missing to keep it held up in place?

 

nooooo..it is supposed to be like that. you don't want the boot to be attached to the ****.

 

Ok, just making sure...seems odd that it sits like that. It just looked funny to me and there seems to be plenty enough leather to allow the stick to move through the gears even if it was at the top.

I didn't say jack about sewing anything. I thought that maybe there was a missing clip or something. Thanks for the insight partner.

 

Get a short stick and the boot somes up to the **** and looks better.

 

****, I had to roll my boot in on itsel so it didn't bunch on the stick lol.

The short stick certainly looks better. How does it feel? Is everyone using the 6" model or the 6.5" model from ws6store.com?

 

Feels great...gets rid of the mushy feeling, 2-3 shifts are perfected. I'm running the 6" version. I dont like the other short sticks which are angled towards you...guess I'm just used to the straight up/down stick.

I bought a fat rubber o-ring from the hardware store and and put it on the shaft right below the shift ****. Put the shifter boot back on over the o-ring and then put the **** back on. The o-ring keeps the boot from sliding down. Cheap fix and you can't see it.

 

Get the ws6store stick 6". The absolut best 25.00 ive ever spent on the car. It not only looks better, but no more shifting a wet noodle. And yes it helps you shift better, havent missed 2-3 yet.

Ordered and received my 6 1/2 shifter rod. I can tell you it does make a difference, I like the feel. It is like you have move control of the shifting. I am going to try bending the rod over (to the driver's side) 10 to 15 degrees. My other car has the shifter over about the same angle, I just like that way. Will heat up the rod and move it over - out of the car.

Damn almost looks like You attached the ball straight to the shifter. Isn't it almost impossible to power-shift like that?

 

No its very easy to power shift like that, the hard thing to do is DD... Powershifting is pie in my car.

 

We just got our 6" WS6store stick, and it feels GREAT with our built tranny. It is the best 25.00 weve spent so far.

I find it easier to power shift with the 6 1/2" stick ( I am sure the 6" is as good if not better) - less distance to travel. In this case bigger is not better.
