adjustable clutch master clyinder question?
how does is work, from what i get and correct me if im wrong, you can adjust the clutch master cylinder rod, to be longer or shorter?
the reason im askin is because my clutch pedals sits at the same height as my brake pedal and its pretty hard at times to get inot first or i have to put it in neutral then release the clutch then press it again to put it in first what a hassle, and adjustable master cylinder seems like the solution, so i can make the cluth master rod longer and have the clutch pedal higher, and when i press down on it, it will engage fully
am i right and is this a solution also the clutch master cylinder that im lookin at is an adjustable gm oem one, and it has the drill mod done on it, it cost 239.99, let me know if this is correct what im thinking thnx

Well the mistake I think everyone makes is thinking that the adjustable master can change the pedal height or the engagement point.
That is not really what it should do at all.
You need to adjust it so there is the least amount of freeplay in the pedal. The freeplay is the movement of the pedal that is not compressing fluid. You need a little in there , so as not to put pressure on the slave constantly.
I adjust my Mcleod after driving it making sure the fluid is hot & expanded.
I give it just a 1/4" -1/2" freeplay tops. Gives it a solid pedal, & i know I dont have a bunch of play in the pedal w/ depressing it.
Just think of it this way thread the rod into the master to decrease the freeplay.
Or unthread it out of the master to increase freeplay.
You are just moving the masters plunger up or down in the bore as needed.

Well my Ram adjustable MC changed my engangement/friction point when I made it longer or shorter. I don't know what wrencher is talking about. Making it slightly longer also solved my problem of my clutch pedal sticking to the floor after WOT runs too.
I'd suggest getting an adjustable MC. They're pretty slick, but a pain to install.

It will change the pedal engagement point. But that is not the correct way to use an adjustable master. You get the release point higher up, but you are putting contant pressure on the throwout/slave cylinder. That is what I'm talking about.
It is at the slaves wear & tear you get that pedal.
Or worse yet the pressure plate is just at the point of holding the disc. Lots of wear & tear potential there, just all of them variable.
