Best clutch for the $

Re: Best clutch for the $
Go with the RAM 402 PP, and the 6130 disc. I am still breaking mine in, but the pedal feels like stock and I haven't heard anything bad about it. I can tell it grabs better. Some people have claimed 5K dumps w/no slipping.

How long do these typically last on the street? I dont race at the track, but would like something that can take some power (and maybe some N2O down the line). I don't mind if its more aggressive.
If it lasts at least a year or two, I'd be more than happy

the Ram 402/6130 is the best IMO for the money thats why i ordered it! it should be here tomorrow yay yes if you dont beat on it a lot i wouldnt be surprised if it lasted a while all things considered of course...you have to remember it is a wear item so the more you beat it the less life it will have...but for 327.xx shipped from summit and a resurfacing of your stock flywheel you cant beat it with a stick!

For the money? There is absolutely, positively, without a doubt no question that Ram is going to be your best bet. You can get the clutch disk and PP for under 350 bucks, and they're combo's have been proven to hold MASSIVE amounts of power and TQ. Get yourself a 402/6130 setup and have your stock flywheel turned. Thats a budget setup that will definately hold the power. I would also recommend an adj. master cylinder for prolonging clutch life...

ok hold up you have a Brand new SS and already have heads and cam on it, but you cant 'afford' a certain clutch?
sorry for the vent.
aside from that yes ram is cheap but be known it is not a drop in deal, read up on them first.
if you like the mcleod style then check out the gen 2 spec, its said to be higher clamping force than ram and you dont have to buy an adjustable master cylinder. this is what i ordered.
in both cases you will have to get a new or resurface your current flywheel, something to allocate funds to as well.

WTF? This post contradicks what I've read in the last few weeks. What's up with the Rev-lok II clutch? I was set on buying this because I could use the stock hydro's. Is the Ram that much better?
Opinions Please.

stock hydraulics suck i am convinced your going to have to replace your stock hydraulics with some sort of updated slave cylinder and an adjustable master of some type..these clutchs that say they will work with stock hydraulics i think are BS in my opinion....

Check out McLeod's Rev-Lok II. It's a sintered iron disk with stock style pressure plate. More heat that is made from slipping, the more it grabs. That is my next upgrade. Thunder Racing has it on sale for $378. I own a 2001, so I have updated hydraulics.
