CRASHING clutch pedal??? wtf

Default CRASHING clutch pedal??? wtf

did some searching to see if i could explain why my clutch pedal was acting FUBAR whenever i drive it hard....

i guess '98-00 fbodies had sh1tty clutch components, and when driven hard the pedal will almost stick to the floor? is this correct? because its pretty aggrevating, and scares me that im gonna mess somthing up when i drive it hard... how should i go about fixing this? i have a spec stage 3 clutch on my wish list, but now im wondering if i will need to add more parts to this list, that i hadn't planned on till now.

its in the hydrolics of the clutch. get yourself a 01 or newer slave when you get the clutch.

Well, I had the same problem. And mine is a 01 car.
After I changed clutch setup and switched to DOT3/4 fluid. I did not do the drill mod.
The old clutch was slipping badly creating too much heat, causing the fluid to boil, (that's what I think)
As your research will show you, you will not get consistant answers as to why the pedal sticks and how to fix it.
Some people do the drill mod, or insulate the hydraulic line from the heat emitted by the header and it's fixed. For others it won't do sh*t.
So, if you wanna start out small, get some hydraulic fluid with a higher boiling point, bleed everything really well, insulate the hydraulic line, you know, non invasive stuff. All that is easily and cheaply done. Then work your way up from there. Drillmod, beefier clutch...

When I changed my clutch it had the 2000 model year slave in it and it is a 2001. Maybe they had leftover parts and used them?

I had a similar problem with my 02... was just the fluid. I changed over to dot 4 as well. Make sure you check your fluid!
