Default Is it possible to change over to a mechanical clutch?

I was wondering. I think it might suck cause of how hard the clutch pedal would be but it would eliminate the hydraulic problems.

I could see it happening on an LT1 car... but I don't think it could happen on an LS1 car.

It would be a pretty big ordeal. Another option might be an aftermarket slave cylinder and master, the slave mounting somwhow off the bellhousing. This would give you an adjustable rod to set the release and eliminate the need to integrate a z-bar.

The main issue is maintaining enought travel at the release bearing - you will need a minimum 1/2 inch, preferrably more to leave a good gap between the clutch fingers and the bearing face.

Not enough room in the tranny.

Check into that and making it a LT1 style clutch setup 2 years ago...

Of course if you get real creative anything can be done but that was the big stopping point from me looking into it further.
