Default Ram VDS clutch system gonzo after 1 day at the track...

6130 disc and updated hydraulics.
1st pass was a bummer-could not hardly get it in 2nd at all, 3rd was allmost as bad. Got a little better with next 2 passes, after a couple more I could not put it in 1st at the lights. Can only get it in gear if car is shut off and then put it in 1st and start it, then clutchless shifted home.

This happened after apx 200 brake in miles(a lot of which was in crappy Tampa traffic, before the 50 mile trip to the track. I have a full clutch pedal, no loss of hydraulic fluid.

Any thoughts?

I just had AAA tow it to where I work, and will be checking it out tomorrow.

Help a brotha out please...

could be a lot of things ... system not bled, fluid on the disk, throwout bearing busted, master cylinder leaking, clutch peddle not adjusted properly ... I doubt it is the actual clutch itself but then again stranger things have happened.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like it is hydraulic related, but there was one member on here who had melted a RAM clutch disc. He was putting out a lot of power though. Where is you master cylinder adjusted? Did the car lurch foward when you put it in first?

Do you even have an adjustable master? If not that is your problem the RAM clutch really needs the adjustable master to function properly......

I had the 6130 disk and had the exact same problems as you are talking about. Turned out my disk had melted to the flywheel. Im not sure what caused it. Try putting the car in 1rst with it off and then start it. If the car lurches forward then you may want to pull te trans. Good luck man.

Update here:
Yes I have an updated slave cylinder and an adjustable master cylinder. We dropped the tranny today and removed the bell housing, but stopped there and did not pull the clutch disc (time ran out). The clutch it self seems to be fine, no fragments, springs and all appear good. I believe the problem is in the master cylinder as we can squeeze the release bearing by hand.
Will know for sure tomorrow. I sure appricate the input here and welcome it.
The car puts 400/400 to the wheels with the help of n20, nothing melted with that "little" power.
On a positive note, Mike from Rapid Motorsports has been very helpful.

Hey, Bleed the hell outta it. I had to bleed mine for about 3 hrs to get it to work right and went through a few bottle of fluid. It sucks, but I bet thats your problem.

Well, it is bad -clutch disc IS melted to the flywheel. Got the pressure plate off and there it is -it is "one" piece now.
Hey "CamminBeast" what did you do? Did Ram replace the clutch or what? I have a call in to Mike at Rapid now, hoping for the best. We'll see...

Thanks Ron.
I Think all I am going to need is a new disc. Just don't know why it happened at this point.

That sucks I'm sorry that you had problems with a setup that I recommended. Surely Ram will take care of you. Hopefully this is a couple of isolated failures that Ram will learn from. How did you get the disk off of the flywheel? I would also be curious to know if Ram had any idea what would cause the 6130 disk top melt like that.

Is the 6130 the iron disk or ceramic?

The 900 is the iron disc, 6130 is bronze...melted bronze in my case

See, now this just is not good! This is the clutch I plan to get; haven't decided on a 6130 disk or a 980. Would an aluminum flywheel with the replaceable friction material made a difference?
Damn this sucks.

Every product is going to have problems, nothing is "perfect". I have had my Ram 402/6130 combo in for over 2500 miles with the stock master and still running fine with ZERO problems. Another guy on the board was previously running TT's and making 600 rwhp, ran this same clutch for over 10K miles at a time. There is nothing wrong it. Sometimes thing can happen which damage parts, it's life not the product...

No doubt about it, good parts do go bad. My faith in this product is still there because of mike at Ram. Myself and Cammin BeaSSt are the only 2 people on this planet to destroy this disc. Not sure if I should be proud or shamed at this point... .
Mike at Ram volunteered to send me the 900 sintered iron disc because of this problem, and he/we are not even sure why it happened. The theory we have come up with is that it needed a much longer break in period. My scorched pressure plate still had the slash marking in it even though I put 200 (double the rec. amount) miles on it, before driving another 50 miles to the track. The friction from that and the heat would have caused the melt down.
No doubt it suck's to have happened-hey I feel MY pain-but thats the name of the speed game. ###t breaks.
Thanks Mike for your help and ron for hookin' a brotha up.
