Default flywheel ?

ok, i have a spec3 in my 99z, installed a new tranny and it started slipping. i took it to 2 places to have them bleed it, one tells me i need a new clutch.
the spec3 that is in it has prolly over 40k miles on it, it had its fare share of abuse. that is why i think i will stick with the spec3.
i am almost 100% sure that when i ordered the spec3 that i went all out and got the aluminum flywheel. i don't really want to spend the extra $200 to get a new alum. fly. so my ? is-
can i reuse the one that is in it now, and if i do, do i need to have it turned, or balanced or anything like that? or since i dont want to spend anymore money than i have too, just go with the billet steel?
realy, what is the diff. between the alum. and steel, just the weight the engine has to sling around?

thanks for reading, and any comments, concerns, answers, and/or opinions welcome
