T56 vs. Richmond 6sp?
I've recently purchased my 2002 WS6 and have noticed a problem with the T56. When in reverse it has a tendency to jump out of gear. Last night while backing up, the tranny made a nice lovely gear grinding noise in reverse. I'm considering having the T56 rebuilt with performance upgrades mentioned in a few threads. I'm also considering a Richmond 6-speed. My application will be DD and road handling capability, long term goal is 350 to 500 RWHP. Does anyone have any suggestions on the two transmission? How well is the Richomd tranny? Thanks for the assistance, Dave.

I'd stick with a built T56 (steel shift forks, carbon blockers, upgraded synchros) and you should be fine for 500rwhp.
The Richmond will cost you much more in the long run and 5th is 1:1 with 6th being your overdrive. You can get them with a very deep 1st gear; however you would be simply blowing the tires off anyway with more gear.
You should look into having a .80 or .83 5th gear installed and keeping 6th .50. That would make the T56 have better gearing 1 thru 5. I think either Liberty or G-Force makes custom gears; however I'm not sure of what is involved and gear ratio options.
I really like 3:90's and my T56. They are very very well matched for road racing and street driving.

Thanks for the input. After reading many threads in this forum, I've decided to have T56 rebuild the transmission and go with the Textralia clutch set up for my first mod to the car. I've read up on the 3.90s and leaning to aftermarket rearend w/ them for the next mod.
