M6 Breakage Question
I have never really banged on mine much, never power-shifted anyway, but I have had one problem with it. I had a grind on the 2-3 shift which I had repaired under warranty with some updated parts. Seems this is a fairly common problem.
A friend of mine is a mechanic at a local dealer and he rebuilt the tranny for me. He said there is a bulletin out from GM on the 2-3 shift fork. From what I understand, the shift fork has a tendency to bend if you try to jam it into 3rd when it doesn't want to go. I have had this happen to me at high RPM shifts a few times, just doesn't want to slide smoothly into 3rd. I haven't ran it hard since it has been rebuilt but hopefully it will go into 3rd a little easier now at high RPM's.
But for the most part, I believe the T-56 is a very tough transmission. I guess it depends what kind of power you are hitting it with.
<strong>Fireball has done some wheelstands with his M6 and a McLeod Twin Disk. I have seen other do some hard shifting too. I am just trying to find out if any of them had a breakage.</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Actually it was a single McLeod kevlar disk <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />
They tend to take the power just fine...but the shifting mechanisms suck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
