double clutching?

ok guys im stupid i guess. I have never understood double clutching and I still dont. How do you do it and why do you do it? someone please give a non-sacastic answer.

Cap N pete already gave an answer..

I think you meant powershifting, when u said double clutching...

Double clutching involves the following , in sequential order

engage clutch, put from current gear into neutral, let off clutch, reapply clutch and engage into what gear you desire.

One small step was missing. Once in neutral and clutch is out, rev it up quickly, then shift into you lower gear.

Double clutching simulates the engine RPMs falling during a normal upshift. You rev everything up so the RPMs fall down just as you shift into the lower gear.
