Default double clutching?

ive tried it, and it does feel like it shifts better, but is it worth the extra stress on the clutch?

well if you dont double clutch your gonna feel the car buck because its gonna be coming in from a lower rpm to a higher without being revved up. you will wear out your tranny without double clutching a lot faster

Double clutching does less wear and tear on everything. You are not forcing the syncros to do anything at all if you double clutch perfectly.

Double clutching has no use when racing.

Clutch, shift into neutral, off the clutch, clutch, shift into gear, off the clutch.

5th gear is messed/messing up in my tranny, and it actually DOES make it easier to go by double-clutching. In terms of racing though, it could only help slow you down IMO.

If you're not double clutching, you might was well granny shift. Just watch out that you don't blow the welds on the intake. I hate it when that happens.

FYI, almost every post in this thread is sarcastic. Including this one.
Cap'n Pete has it right.

Well, since every response in this thread has been sarcastic, just about, I'll answer it for ya. There is no need for double clutching on new transmissions for that is what syncros are for. Back in the old days with transmissions without syncros, I believe double clutching did make a difference. Correct me if I'm wrong tho.

You are essentially correct. But when I downshift from 6 to 3 or more often from 6 to 4, I always double clutch (clutch 1 into neutral, let out, rev everything up, clutch 2, shift into 3 (or 4), let out again). When I do it right I get no jerking, I am simply accelerating like crazy and my syncros get to live another day. Doing it the other way I make the syncros do their job (that is what they are there for), then I have to rev match as I let out again to avoid jerking. I was never as good at it that way so I got good at double clutching instead.

Double clutching an upshift makes no sense.
