Default weird problem

i know its not a fbody, but i just dunno who else to ask and theres alot of smart guys around here. atleast its still a pontiac

i have a friend with a 1995 sunfire 5spd, and he told me that his clutch is fried. so i get in the car, push in the clutch, and go thru all the forward gears and nothing happens. i put it into reverse and it engages.

is it possible that a fried clutch would catch reverse everytime but none of the forward gears.

did these cars have other 5spd issues that could be causing this, etc.

all input is appreciated.

Its a cable shift linkage. It is possible that it is an issue with the linkage system. I think a fried clutch would be hard to miss, though( smell).
