Problems with McLeod adjustable pedal feel
I put ~30 miles on it and all of a sudden my engagement point drops to the floorboard. Take it back to the shop and there's no fluid leaking from the tranny, and the fluid goes up and down in the reservoir during engagement.
They got my pedal pressure back by pumping it a about 30 times times, and said to drive it minimally until Monday. Also to pump the pedal if I lose pressure again, as a bandaid.
They plan on putting the stock master back in and returning the McLeod unit for a replacement.
I'm leaving on a 3K mile roadtrip on Wednesday AM, and it has to be reliable by when I pick it up.
Anything we should try before returning it to stock?
With about 50 miles after the install, it had a similar problem, but I noticed it before I started the engine. It slightly hung while coming back to the top, but not as bad as earlier. I pumped the pedal for awhile and got my pressure back, and the hanging pedal disappeared (again).
If nothing else I'd like the friction point to be higher on the pedal. Right now it's between 30-50%. Will moving it up alleviate the aforementioned symptoms?
Right now I'm considering just leaving the McLeod installed - but in the back of my mind I'm worried about the reliability of it.
All too fimiliar story! Do a search on my user name! Well I finally solved the problem (I too thought I had a bad McLeod)... But thanks 2 a second new slave and Jason99 advice to disconnect the line to the slave push o the pedal to see if the master is leaking by (you should get 0 pedal movement with line disconnected if master is bad)!
I got the ***** to call Star again .... this time I told them with confidence that the hyd system is perfect. We they finally admitted that some Z06, Star stage II & III have bad pressure plates! Mine only had 3000K and had worked great until it disengaged at floor so I upgraded hyd slave & master. With adjustable it would engage high when cold and on the floor when hot or after high rpms.
Star replaced the whole system PP, FW , clutch with "level 2" system for free! But adjustable master is required! New system works great! But now I have a small vibration between 1500-2000 rpm .... I guess they didn't balance it right! Oh well I'm gonna live with it. After 4 months of chasing demons and the tranny in & out 3 times I'm sick of it!
Sorry but I think you need a new PP, ect... it sux but it beats taking the tranny out 3 times to come to that conclusion.....Good Luck!

Also, try adjusting your master cylinder outward (rasing the engagement point). See if this helps get rid of the slop in the pedal, etc.
Good luck!
