What kind of stick is on it? If it is bar stock you may have too much mass in the stick and its load at angle is what is causing the problem. Also, what shifter is on the unit? Aftermarket shifters have a long history of internal drag.

Looks like a factory Hurst shifter. You can calibrate the side to side load by swapping the coil springs is that shifter. Hurst sells a spring set that allows you to do that. Check Mr Gasket's site.

BTW, if you are putting that in a Cobra, isn't the shifter going to be ..like in the trunk?

Ah ,well ,I do know my Cobras. What Cobra are you talking about? He did say a Gardener Douglas Cobra. That would be a Kit car Cobra( like an AC derivative) and would place the stick in an Fcar T56 .....in the trunk. Do you know what you think you know? What value is it you think you bring?

GD is a kit car manufacture yes. www.gdcars.com www.gd-owners.co.uk

the chassis is ament for a chevy 350 iron block, but with the use of some conversion plates and 350 engine mounts it fits fine and the gear stick sits in the same place the tko box would have, i will post some pictures later with the body on and where the gear stick comes out.

exactly my point on the shifter position. All TKO shifter positions( there are 3)are forward of the F car position(and the in the trunk comment).

The shifter is a little far back - I've got a Gardner Douglas with an LS1/T56 combo on the road. Been making my own stick today on my new lathe
