I had the same problem at the track. Did the drill out mod and my clutch fluid was more like black sludge. I moved the line away from my header and covered it in high temp heat reflective tape and fixed.

i think the heat in corilation with the air bubbles that are so difficult to bleed make this problem so prevelant. it's screwed up more than one track pass including, blowing one motor i've build in my car. definately worth while doing this mod. thanks Tony, for pointing this out.

Did that when I did the drill mod. Double insulated the braided line and zip tied as far away from the header as I could and still loose pressure the same as before. Hopefully the culprit is my shitty '99 slave, or so I hope. We will see in the next week or so.

When your pedal goes soft and or you cant grab the next gear it is a hydraulic issue, slave/master. The only time your clutch is bad is when it is slipping.

Great info M6er's!!! I need to do this, like yesterday. I had a weird grind noise shifting into 3rd, clutch got soft/mushy/stuck, and then my gear popped out of third, sounds like anyone elses problems?!?!? I hear LS1's tend to do this, I will complete the misson stated above, and let you know if the problem still occurs. Thanks M6er's

Can anyone post any success stories related to this? I see a whole bunch of "I need to's" and would like to see a lot more "I did's".

Rerouting the line I can understand but what are you guys using to insulate the line?

I insulated mine yesterday and used this

I will post up pics of the finished product once I figure out why I cannot log into my pic hosting site. This is a cable fire sheild made by Taylor, I was able to insulate from the bellhousing up to the master cylinder.

what if both things happen!

I posted something about my clutch pedal sticking to the floor on my 2nd gear shift, I think it was definitely heat related now that I hear all this. I drove 40 mins to the track and made run after run and I ran into this problem the last 4-5 runs.

good info, didnt see how old this thread was

The insulation I posted is made by Taylor, it is a high temp sheeting made for cables, fuel lines ect... and it can be bought in all kinds of lengths and diameters. Any shop that carries Taylor plug wires or other Taylor products should be able to get the insulation too. Picked mine up at a local speed shop when I was buying some axle straps

I made my 2nd visit to the track (ever) last night and got "SCS" (Soft Clutch Syndrome) as well. My first visit to the track came when I still had stock exhaust manifolds on my car. Last night's was after installing a set of QTP's and true duals............didn't have this problem with the stock manifolds so I am guessing that this is dead on accurate.

Thanks for the info guys.
