Just installed Ram clutch..a few questions/problems...
Ok so my friend David(Mightymouse) and i installed my Ram Clutch today 402/6130 combo w/ a Mcleod Adjustable Master and a new 145 slave.......now a few questions...
A)is the pedal suppose to be so incredibly stiff?
B)where do i need to set this master cylinder/where do i need to get this clutch engaging at first since it is brand new??
C)under slight throttle at points its wanting to slip for some reason...i dont think this is normal any thoughts???
So far the master is set about 3/4's of the way out or so JUST so i can get it to go into gear if we move it back to about halfway it wont even go into gear....it is engaging RIGHT off of the floor is this normal?? also when the master was set when it wouldnt go into gear when we pushed the clutch in and the pedal came back we heard a popping noise from the transmission and we had no idea what it was?? now that the Master is set so i can get it into gear it doesnt do it anymore....
Any help would be MUCH appreciated
Thanks
Jay

a) yes
b) right near the floor, as you get more miles on the clutch ( 400+ ) the point moves up off the floor and you might want to reset it again.
c) did u resurface the flywheel?

yes i did have the stock flywheel resurfaced....i told the people at the NAPA machine shop to take off the LEAST amount possible....i had another flywheel turned at the same time for my friend for his Spec clutch and his is working great....
im still curious about this whole slipping/where its suppose to be engaging/disengaging stuff!?!
Thanks

I ttt'd the other post from pewtiful.. i imagine the popping sound is the f'd pressure plate like he had. i would call ram and ask them to send one here for wed afternoon so we can swap them asap before you damage the flywheel.
at first i thought you wanted me to read the post cuz of the torque spec, but we did that right. now i see that all of his symptoms of the busted pp are the same as yours.. and like the other said.. the pedal should feel 'slightly' harder than stock.. yours is like a dumptruck clutch.

I have the exact same set-up as you, and my release point is about 3/4 of the way off the floor, and I love it there. It's been like that for 30k miles now, and I haven't had any problems with it.
