Most effective way to "break" a T56??
I have taken my car to the dealership about 3 times. It grinds going into second and sometimes randomly in different gears. They originally told me it was the clutch. Well i bought a CARTEK...STILL does it. Sometimes under WOT sometimes just cruising! WTF?!
So basically i am at my wits end. I HATE doing it to my car but i need to since my warranty is up in less than 1k.
HOW can i effectively incapcitate my tranny for repair work w/o making it look like sabatoge? I know this is wrong but i gave them MANY chances to fix it and they just refuse to lift a finger!
Thanx for the help!

i'm not sure on how to break a t56 (if you had a 4l60e i could help, lol) but one thing to keep in mind,if you do find out how to break it.. they can potentionally void your warranty due to the aftermarket clutch...

Drain the fluid maybe or try to shift without the clutch engaged...

Draining the fluid and shifting w/o the clutch would surely do it!

I tried shifting w/o the clutch but it will NOT go into gear.
The main things i am worried about is that i CAN get the synchros fixed however my gears have been grinded alot and i fear their durability from the excess wear on them.
Would they REALLY be able to void my warranty due to non aftermarket clutch? They told me my clutch was shot before so i can justify the fact that i found the toughest clutch avail at the time.

I think it all boils down to how nice the service department wants to be. If the tranny tech tears it apart, and sees a lot of wear on the 1-2 and/or 3-4 syncros you're probably SOL...they'll claim abuse, and it's real easy for them to blame an aftermarket clutch (been there, done that). They may want to deny coverage on any part an inproperly operating clutch would cause, but they can't void your entire warranty.
Do you have an adjustable master? Do you have the TO bearing shimmed? Have you removed the line restriction in the hydraulic line? Where's your friction point on your clutch pedal?
Find a reputable place to have it rebuilt outside of the dealership. Request a written estimate with a low $$$ amount. If you don't like what they [the dealer] find, have the car, tranny, and parts towed to the other shop. At least you won't be paying through the nose for parts. T56 rebuilds usually run ~$250, + the ~$220 rebuild kit, + replacement parts. Order parts from D&D Performance or Westech.

Don't break it on purpose because they WILL find some lame excuse to not fix it and then it will cost even more to get it rebuilt. Mine was grinding just about every gear normal shifting when the tranny was cold and 2nd and 3rd when warm. I bought the synchro kit from D&D for $229, which is the friction blocker rings. I pulled the tranny myself and had a local shop rebuild it for $150. It has worked perfect ever since even on speed shifts. You can even find the synchro kits for the T56 on ebay for around $160.
