Default T5 on an ls2? what does it take?

okay I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't find much by searching the forums.

I am interested in changing things up on my BMW and I think using a t5 is just the thing for me tranny wise but I have no idea what it will take to make that work with an ls1/ls2/whatever lsX engine.

Should I assume this will require custom fabbed adapters or will this be fairly straight forward? Don't worry I have the necessary mechanical ability, I am just not familiar with GM products at all.

any and all info will be helpful! thanks all!

An LS2 is too powerful for a T5. Use a T56.

T5 r more reliable, very light compared to a T56.
I`ve seen mustang turbo guys with 600+rwhp runnin and no problems if tranny is good built.

I agree a stock T-5 isn't all that great. Most of the guys that have big power with the mustangs run Tremec TKO 500 or 600 trannies. Thats what I had in my mustang and you couldn't break it if you tried. Just use a T56!

If packaging is a concern, you may want to consider a tr3550( tko) over a T5, it fits in nearly the same space. T5s have several gearing options that may work but the 3550's only vary the od. The T56 has several ratio options and has a double od. You really need to decide by ratio first. As far as fabrication goes, you will need to make a bell for either the T5 or the TR3550.
