Default Clutch or Tranny problem?

Alright guys, I cant figure out what this is. Its a problem im having with my LT1 but since the trannies are relatively the same to LS1, I figued I would post here also since Im having a hard time figuring out what the problem is. I put a Mcleod Clutch in and had the tranny redone at the same time. About 3k miles later Im pulling into my sisters apartment complex and hear a horrible whining and rattling coming from the tranny or clutch but cant tell which and I feel a vibration coming through the pedal and the shifter. I quickly get to her apartment and everytime I push in the clutch and shift gears it makes the noise. I let it cool down then decide to drive it home and park it there till I can look at it. A few days later i get under it and everything looks fine, no loose bolts or anything and both the clutch and tray fluid are fine. Take it out and drive it a little to try and reproduce the sound and nothing. Didnt hear a darn thing. Drove it maybe 200 more miles and then WHAM, it all starts happening again. I was fairly close to home so I tried to figure out if it was dependant upon anything so I was going through all the gears and it was doing it eachtime I shifted. The whine and rattling was loud until I released the clutch and then it went away. I shifted into 5th once and it was horrible so I didnt let the clutch out, I came to a stop with the clutch pressed and the sifter in 5th and the vibration and rattle was loud. Right when I slowly released the clutch just enough for it to make contact, the noise and vibration stopped. So its only when I have the clutch pressed somewhat and im shifting or have shifted that the noise occurs. Also, when I was entering my neighborhood and was at a stop sign, I was at a complete stop with the car in nuetral. I pushed the clutch in and no noise, but the instant I put the shifter into 1st, the noise and rattle and vibration started again. I have NO CLUE what this is people and if you could help or have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanx

I'd look under there once more before committing to pulling the tranny. Check the trans mount, drive shaft, yokes, u-joints. Does the noise and vibration occur pulling out from a stop? Does the noise and vibration vary with rpm/mph? If the rest of the drive line check out OK, then pull the tranny and hopefully its just a t/o bearing. Could also be a defective clutch. Maybe a broken disc spring. Hopefully, its nothing inside the tranny. $$$ Ouch!

the instant the clutch engages and i start moving, the noise goes away. it only occurs when teh clutch is pressed. once the clutch is completely released, no more rattle, vibration, or anything.

Sounds like a throwout bearing. I'd think about ordering up a new clutch unit/slave since the tranny will have to be pulled anyway.
