Default Another T56 bites the dust

Got into it with a pretty well modified Steeda and grenaded my t56 shifting into 3rd. Can someone help with the symptoms?

I have 1,2,5,6, and R but sometimes I cant get it into any gear without putting my feet on the seat and pushing with both hands into any gear .

P.S. I beat the Steeda twice before this happened he just could'nt take a hint.

Sounds like you broke the 3-4 shift fork, which is quite common. Replace it with a stronger steel fork from www.ddperformance.com Don't try to force it into gear, you are only damaging your synchros! $$$$

Good luck getting a 3-4 fork. D&D didn't have any on Friday (stock or the upgraded), and the guy said that they have had a waiting list backorder for the last 3 months. But they're nice folks, know their T56's.

I was going to do it, but decided not to. I'm just waiting on a new 1-2 slider gear to get here before I put my tranny back together. Man, these parts add up quick. $$$

Huh? I have a receipt from D&D dated 6/12/2002, showing I purchased a 3-4 Fork (Steel) $49.00. It's item code BS6.

I dunno, I called Friday, they didn't have any. I wanted one, they had none.

Don't ask me, I don't know.

just ordered a syncro kit and the forks should be in soon. He said hopefully by the end of the week, they were supposed to be there last week.

Plan on maybe upgrading my t56 over the winter..
so what should a guy get..how many shift forks are there .what kind of synchros..I want the thing to be pretty much bulletproof..Also my car is shifting fine in all gears only problem is the high rpm into third problem.I haven't done the drill mod and plan on trying a mcleod adjustable master.Hoping it shifts fine after that.I have no problems with it poppint out of gear and it goes into gears fine at anything under about 6000rpm.What are the symptoms of a bent shift fork..would a bent fork give problems with just 3 or also 4 since you said the 3 to 4 is one fork???
Wonder why the stupid factory didn't put in steel forks from the start..anyone know about getting a manual for the t56..probably let a buddy who owns a speed shop rebuild it but I will probably help him out..

Yeah, what 99TAWS6 said...What are the best things to add to make it more bulletproof. I already blew out one synchro and that was not an enjoyable experience AT ALL.

My car is at the dealer right now getting a new 3-4 fork, synchro, and 3rd gear (02 w/ 3800 miles). If it happens again I will go with the D&D parts, they are on the other side of town from me.
