I had some chewed up gears in mine and it wasn't rebuildable. I opted for a Rockland Standard and Gear tranny. It's good for 700hp.
Also new master and slave cylinder
new clutch and flywheel
new torque arm.
Came to 5800 with install.

I replaced the 3/4 steel shift fork, and D&D synchro rebuild kit. Total cost was ~$325 including the tranny fluid and craftsman snap ring pliers. Labor done by me.

early on when i had my orange car i blew the synchros (at the track of course). the pieces flew around the trans and took out a couple gear shafts or something... i had it rebuilt to stock at AAMCO... parts and labor cost $900.

put i did the R&R on the trans. so i dropped it off, he fixed it, then i picked it up and threw it back in the car.

How do all of you do it yourselfers go by pressing the gears back on to the shaft? Do you just have a hydraulic press in your garage? Also what kind of puller do you use to remove 5th and 6th gear?

T-56 rebuilds. They had good service. I got them in a week or so, maybe a day less. Just beware of the 5th and 6th gear. some people never had trouble with it, but I sure as in hell did. and try an dfinish as soon a spossible, weeks and weeks of rebuilding makes everything more complicated an dyou forget where parts go, etc... its a pain.

No rebuild for me. I'll be going auto when my M6 takes a dump. I've got a buddy who has rebuilt his tranny a couple of times and has always had trouble shifting. He thought it was just him but others have tried and it won't work right. I'll be going with a Jr Tranny 4L60E and a PI converter. Manual valve body with a ratchet shifter of course...to keep that "manual" shifting characteristics.
