Go with a twin disk and it will hold. Clutches are a wear item. If you love to row the gears and want big power get use to buying new clutch plates.

i hear alot of people talking about the reviews of the spec 3 clutch. most that people read are bad because they are mad about something and want to express their opinion. very few people will right a review over a good clutch. just IMO

Mcleod Twin here. 6000+ RPM launches for 10,000 miles. Just rebuilt it. Never slipped until it finally crapped itself.

Oh yeah.....the break in time for these things are crap. 2 miles around the block and trailered it right to the track. Held like a champ!!!

i have a custom made unsprung disc with brass pucks i am using the stock Pressure Plate and it holds just fine on the juice 540rwhp 616rwtq but i dont use slicks at the track. a couple of people around here have this disc with a spec pressure plate (some are unsprung some are sprung) it does not slip, even on a SS with 420rwhp launching at 7k with 28inch et drags. It just seems to find the week points in the drivetrain. I think it drives just fine although it is a little bit of an "on-off" switch.

So how much is the Tex package (including pp, clutch, flywheel, etc) all said and done for a 500-600rwhp application?

For a Textralia clutch with billet steel flywheel, you're looking a about $1000 or more depending on shipping charges. ByunSpeed carries them and they're a sponsor.

LOL! That's what I said, but then I got tired of replacing my sorry *** Centerforce clutches (which cost me about the same as one tex clutch)! It's well worth the money. I love my Tex clutch!

I gotta be able to slip it on the street though as I hit traffic sometimes in driving around. McLeod single disk is pretty slippable on the street but also holds well. It doesn't help that I have 3.42's though which makes things suck worse than they should.

They told me the same thing, but they did say it was a racing clutch. So I took it racing.

Ive been stuck in 3-4 mile tailbacks, and it never annoyed me.

Interesting, because my McLeod single has a very stiff pedal and is slippable but you can tell it's not made for it. Not sure how the Tex compares though.

My pedal is very light, and very slippable.

I'd say it is barely any heavier than stock.

Wow, mine's certainly stiffer. Although, I kinda like the feel, except for when in traffic.

So you think 300 miles of street driving is enough for a mcleod twin disk to start beating on it now?
