Default Help: Rattling from shifter, and Squeeling or Howling when shifting....

Well here's my problem, sorry for being annoying.....

When idling, there is a clanking or a rattling coming from the shifer. If I press on the clutch pedal and engage, the clanking goes away, let off it comes back. This is at all times, doesn't go away when warmed up or anything.

Then, lately when I shift I hear a squeeling, or some kind of noise coming when I shift. I'll hit the clutch, then move the shifter for 1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 5-6 and I hear this noise. However, it doesn't do it 3-4. I'm just sort of at a loss here.

I bought the transmission from a board member and was told it was rebuilt with GM performance parts, and had 8k on it. The clutch was used with maybe 4, and does slip. I've put 5k on it, and it hasn't been hard miles. Maybe 6 track passes.

ANY help is aprecaited GREATLY, thanks for your help LS1tech

Chris

How sure are you that the clutch isn't damaged and out of balance? You said it slips so a segment loose would cause that and the balance issue. The noise sounds like a throw out bearing - did you change that with the install?
The vibe going away in 4th makes the trans suspect. What oil did you use?

I'm thinking now it could be the clutch. Although I changed the trans fluid, and filled it right up to the top. Seemed to be pretty good now, it just does it 1-2 now, and 2-3 isn't as bad. There is no vibration at all, you may have misread, the vibration is in neutral
