Face Plate here! I'm still trying to get used to it, but I will say, I love it!!!
The down shifts take a little practice, but you get used to it. It could be daily driven, but I would not recommend it, for wear and tear mostly. With the Face-Plating, you do not have to hold the shifter in gear. I've heard of issues like that with Pro-Shifting, but like I said, I've "heard". I have no personal experience with a Pro-Shifted tranny.

With the proshifted tranny it wont start popping out of gear untill things get worn and its time for a rebuild. If you friend has to hold his in gear, its time for it to come out. Face plating eliminates this situation.

I am using the G-force GF5R 5speed in my Camaro.
It's face plate/dog ring, straight cut, but NOT the clutchless version. With a vertical gate shifter, down shifting took a lot of practice. It's driven on the street only about 500 miles a year.
I would NOT recommend it as a daily driver, but it is just fine for cruise nights and weekend fun.
At the track it is super!! It's impossible to miss a shift, I just tap the clutch pedal enough to get it out of gear, and slam it in the next one.
G-force told me it's only the clutchless version that will pop out of gear.

You can read about my experience with Liberty's face plated T56:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-transmission/484085-liberty-s-t56.html
I will never have a tranny with synchros in a performance car. There is just no reason for it.
For the record the shape of the gears has nothing to do with the engagement. Straight cut gears are stronger than helical cut gears but they are much louder. As far as I know the only faceplating (dogring) option for the T56 at the moment is the sevice offered by Liberty's. They modify the stock gears and add some of their custom parts to make the conversion. That is the trans that I have. It has helical cut stock gears and dog rings in gears 1-4, with 5, 6 and reverse retaining the stock synchros.

I have no issues slamming gears with my stock tranny.I just got a stand alone fuel system for the NOS so I can run a bigger shot. If all goes well I will be running between 10.0-9.7 with a stock tranny. What will I gain at the track as far as 1/4 times if I make the switch. I have a spare tranny that I can send out

We are on our 3rd transmission. The first one was a proshifted unit and only had 43 passes on it before the slider broke in half. We then switched to Face Plated and will not change from there. The Face plated parts have been replaced in our car twice but was not the parts fault. We broke the shift rail which then sheared the teeth off the cluster and 3rd gear.
We stopped selling the proshifted units and have since sold more than 12 of the Face Plated units. We normally keep 2 units in stock if possible since it is a very easy modification. We didn't cut anytime off but we are more confident in beating the crap out of this thing. We have pushed this to the limit with 8000rpm launches and shifts at 8000 every track pass.
I would recommend the face plated trans over the proshifted any day.
Thanks,
Amber
