Default Clutch engaging itself

While idling with pedal in if the shifter is set into 1st the clutch begins to engage itself. Same if I am using reverse and feathering out of a parking space. It is worth my life sometimes to pull the stick out of either 1st or reverse in these situations. At times I actually have to shut it down and to get it back to neutral. Pedal stays at the floor and I actually need to return it to the top manually. I was leaning toward a new master cylinder needed since the SPEC 2 was put in at about 83K and the car is at 118K now and the throwout was replaced then. Resevoir was pretty much dry about three weeks ago and it was near impossible to drive, I refilled and bled it. Since then it has dropped a little under the step. What is the general concensus? I was willing to replace the master and slave but if I can save on one of the two that would be great.

If the reservoir was empty, then there's definitely a leak...

Find the leak and you'll find your problem....

I'm willing to bet it's the slave though....

Seeme like this is the problem of the week.

My buddy is having similar problems, but I don't think it's a leak.

I had a bad feeling it was the slave too, but it is so damn inconvenient to replace! Is there a reason that some people suggest the Napa version if there is only one maker of the slave as I have read here? I figure the best price and go with it if they are all equal.

Any others want to chime in before I just get the slave? It is a hassle to get it on a lift to do a check prior to doing the repair, I was going to rely on firm advice.

288 slave, 277 master. I'd do them both at the same time.

I hate having to do the same work twice.
