Default shifter prob.

my 01 ls1 shift **** is really hard to unscrew. the leather just spins and not the ****. any suggestion on how to get it off with out damaging it.

i don;t believe it's possible. i had the same problem. i took the shifter off and put it in a vice and used a huge set of channel lock pliers to wrench off the ****.

Its possible, I probably spin mine around every day because I play with it so much.

Nah, too easy. Gotta watch that setup though.

But I'm pretty sure that your shift **** will be FUBAR'ed by the time you get it off. Once it's stripped, it's damn near impossible to remove.

thats how mine was. all you have to do is pull it up while turning it to lossen it up. It wont damage nothing. that way you make the inside part turn

The threads in the **** are pretty thick I don't really see stripping that thing using your hands.

i tried pulling up and turning at the same time. the inside threaded piece has separated from the **** housing. good luck.

My original **** did the same thing and I wasn't able to get it off without tearing it up


Replaced it with an "H" **** and all was good
