Ok to drive with worn synchro?
Before you answer. I would like to let you know.
I am kind of desperate to know...
I am spending $300 bucks to race my car at Willow springs...
I have put over $ 1500 into my car including suspension and brake upgrades...
I have been looking forward to this day for a good 2 months now.
So let me start be explaining:
My car has had a bad 3rd gear synchro for a couple of weeks now. and before when it was going out whenever I shifted at high RPMS it just grinded... Now It just grinds regardless, even at normal speeds . I have to go from 2 - 4 or slam it into 3rd.
What my question was. is there any place that would fix a transmission iin a couple of days? and honestly I dont wanna put up with it. Insead I was gonna ask could I just slam it into 3rd until and during my track day?
It may be bad for the trans, but I will repair it the first week of february.
could what I mentioned be accomplished, or is it not worth it. remember Im desperate. I really dont want anything stopping me from my track day, and my wallet is drained from the mods I purchased for the track day...
any input pls... Thanks.

It will only get worse. Slamming it in gear each time , for awhile , has certainly damaged the 3/4 shift fork and I'm also sure the 3rd speed gear is toast. The risk you run continuing down this road is breaking off a clutch tooth or shearing a strut and running bits through a gear mesh or a bearing. This would extend the damage and $$ for you Feb rebuild. Also , with a damaged shift fork, you could get stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. There is also a possibility that the loose bits could sieze the trans and cause the rear wheels to lock at anytime you are driving. That would be enough for me to park it.

I hate to say it, but I'd park it too until you get the transmission fixed. I think you risk a bigger bill if you keep pounding on it and rebuild it later. Either way, it needs to be fixed...I wouldn't want something like that clouding up a track event.

Not sure...I did business with Joe and Amber at T56 Rebuilds, and they did a great job. Your limited time-table is gonna be tough to work around though...ground shipping can only go so fast.
As for a break-in...not sure if it is "required", but mine was tight until it had a couple thousand miles on it.

Dunno how quick it would be for a rebuild.
As far as driving it... in my DSM I just double clutched it when the 2nd gear synchros went on it.... it was the fastest way to shift at the time.... but yeah, you're just gonna do more damage.
