Default ls7 clutch

picked up my car from shop yesterday, did a ls7 clutch new slave, drill mod, bleed the system, felt nice and soft, engaging very low, drove it home about 20 miles. start it up this morning and i have a hard time getting in gear like its not engaging. is this normal, will it get better? took like 20 mins of driving then it got better. it felt as if the car had no fluid in the master cylinder, but i checked and it was full.

I instaled my ls7 clutch last weekend. It was hard to get in gear at first but after a lil driving it got better. Once you get a few miles on it, it will get better. My pedal is about back up to normal now. a few WOT runs it realy felt better.

Just had mine installed.. Wont go into reverse unless car is off.. Also shifting the car you almost have to force it into gear , along with the clutch pedal being nearly off the floor. Not sure if this is going to get better , hopefully shop can figure it out.

So forcing the car into gear to shift and not being able to get into reverse is normal? Doesnt seem normal to me.. Car shifted fine , but had a slipping Spec clutch so I went with the LS7.. Now LS7 is in and it doesnt want to shift w/o forcing it into gear and pedal releases real low.

seems like you still need to bleed it again. When i did my Ls7 clutch, i had very low engagement, and it WAS hard to get into reverse, but went into others gears without force. I would try bleeding the system again

dont count on it, I know several people with LS7 clutch issues. Mine has 6k miles on it and still grabs low and grinds gears when its cold because the pedal is so low. As soon as I get some extra cash this piece is coming out.

Also to note, I have bled so many bottles of fluid through mine, same way I have done other clutches I have had, and still doesnt work. Brand new slave and master as well. Just something odd about this clutch....

hummm i never heard of this happening. mine pedal and most other members on here have the pedal come back to almost stock engagement point after about 500 miles.

I had mine LS7 clutch pulled out because the pedal was sticking after 1500 miles. I replaced it with the Textralia set up. For the couple hunred dollars more, its a much better clutch. It ended up being a $1500.00 lesson in clutches.

How is going from $400 LS7 Clutch & PP to $1500 Textralia just a "couple hundred dollars more". I know its an extremely better clutch, possibly the best out there, but its not just a couple hundred dollar difference.

Maybe that just what you told the wife, huh? I try and do that somtimes...but usually she catches me

Are you people w/ the LS7 Clutch issues swapping out for an 01-02 slave cylinder while you're at it? Seems like the ones iv seen problems on are on cars pre-01 and I remember reading where it needs an 01-02 slave.

Textralia can be had for under $1000.

I'd spend the 100 for a slave and do it while the car is apart, trust me it is easier just to do it all at once.

The $1500 lesson was what it cost to replace the LS7 clutch, and purchase a textralia clutch and have it installed. The LS7 clutch cost about $400-500 and labor is the same. The textralia cost about $750-$1000 dollars. I was talking about how much more it cost me after the clutch crapped out. And, actually I saved a couple dollars because I was getting new gears while replacing the clutch the second time.

And yes, I did lie to my wife about replacing the clutch. Matter of fact, im not sure I even told her I was replacing the clutch that had 1500 miles on it. I just told her I was replacing the gears with 3:90s !!!

That was my fault I miss read your post. The only problem with my wife is she watches every penny in and out of our account, so I have to use the old "since I'm doing it, I might as well upgrade it" ...usually works, if I say pretty please
I'm just hoping the LS7 I plan to put in lasts about 15k miles on current hp. I drive like a grandpa though.

Is the textralia noticably harder to drive than the LS7 in your opinion?

Trust me, I drove mine like a grandpa, and a friend of mine with more RWHP beat the hell out of his, and it worked great for him. For me, It just didnt work out. By the time ECS removed each part for inspection, the whole clutch was out, and I replaced it not wanting to guess what the problem could have been, putting the drive line back together, and have the clutch system fail again. The way I looked at it was as much as I hated to replaced the exsisting new LS7 clutch set up, I was pot commited in the installation labor and I was only a couple hundred bucks from buying the new clutch, or reinstalling the LS7 clutch and hoping that we guessed right and fixed the problem. I didnt want to gamble that way, so I played it safe and installed a proven high performance clutch signed to hold 450 + RWHP without an issue.

Trust me, I wished the LS7 clutch didnt crap out on me, but it's an expensive hobby. Ive seen it hold much more RWHP than I have, and really that's why I bought. I dont have any reservations about buying it because it should of worked out, but oh ****, it didnt for me

do it right the first time !
