Mikronite Face Plated T-56
Anyone running one??
After talking to Liberty, there pro shifted t-56 gear sets do not last long (1 season or 50-75 runs). There Face plated gear sets last 2-3 seasons and 200-300 runs.
Anyone ever thought about having the gears Mikronited?? The process hardens the metal, and reduces friction. Something like 31g's of pressure are put on the parts durring this process.
Seems like you could get alot more life out of the gear sets this way.
Wonder if Liberty has done any testing with this??
I think the cost is around $300.00 for 1-4 main and counter gears, 1-2 syncro, and 3-4 syncro. You can get your main shaft mikronited for 200.00.. But i'm already on a viper shaft so no worries there.
Sounds like a stronger trany to me

I have a Mikronited Faceplated trans in our car. It does not harden the gears it only allows the heat to disapate more efficiently. The face plating from Liberty is $650 if you send them the gears. It uses a custom 1-2 and 3-4 slider ring that they machine in house. I have 4 units here right now we are faceplating. I have broken 2 proshifted units in less than 30 passes. This faceplated unit has 71 passes and has been torn down 2 times just to check parts. We have done the testing on the Mikronited setups and I can tell you it does help. With our we do massive wheelstands which uncover the input and cluster from having fluid on them. With the stock one it would have broken already if it was not for the Mikronite finishing and having the ability to keep it more lubricated.
Thanks,
Amber

I have had some of the units I have done Mikronited and cryo dipped but am not 100% convinced that it does a whole hell of a lot . The end results look nice but not sure it does a whole lot for added durability or strenght . The last one I did was a T5 for a road racing Mustang up in Canada . Haven't heard anything back so I guess no news is good news .
