Default Clutch only engages when cooled off...

Hey guys.

Quick question. When driving the car the clutch seems to go into gear fine, but after a bit it wont go into gear at all until it cools off.

Could it be a hydralic issue, or low clutch fluid, or boiling clutch fluid, or is it possibly something wrong with the throwout bearing or clutch its self?

Any ideas?

The questions is when was the last time you checked the color of the fluid and have you swapped it out. Mine has 30k on it, no mods, good driver, stock clutch, im going to swap the fluid this spring before it hits the track.

When you say it doesn't go into gear until "it cools off" what exactly do you mean. Until the engine cools off or until the clutch disc/pressure plate cool off? You wouldn't know your clutch needed to cool off unless you were slipping your cluch while doing burnouts or something like that. That wouldn't cause your problem unless you've eaten away all the friction material on the clutch disc. If you had abused the disc to that point the clutch would slip when you try to launch so the symptom would be different. Hard shifting means your hydraulic system isn't forcing the pressure plate to release(disengage) the disc from the flywheel. That can be due to defective master or slave cylinder or less likely the hose between them. Most likely is your master.

Hmmm, well the master and slave had both been replaced since Ive upgraded the clutch stuff (a few years ago, but has the drill mod and all that stuff).

Ive got a mcleod twin disk in the car now, this is the second one (first one blew up at 2k miles).

Ive never even launched the car since the new setup (check sig).

I mean until the clutch/dis/pressure plate cool, not engine...

What I mean by that is it locks you out of gear and stays in nuetral until its been cooled...
