Default Sequential T56??????

just wondering if anyone has ever thought about making a sequential shifter/mechanisum to convert a H patern to a sequntial????

i know there are kits that can do this for other 'boxes, such as the Evo and the Porsche G50.

thanks Chris.

Look at the specs for the Aston Martin Vanquish. It is a paddle-shift T56. If you arranged the controls / levers in a line it would be a sequential control. Why is sequential important?

Hes talking about just using a NON H pattern....You shift up and down, not up and over....

They make shifter kits for SR,supra, evos etc....Never heard about them for a T56 car...

slick1851 you got it mate. wondered if there was a shifter kit.

calhoon there are a lot of advantages to a sequential shift. first and formost you cant miss a gear! this is good for road course work as there is less chance of blowing the engine. also they are faster as you only have to move the leaver in 1 direction every time.

finaly there are some very intresting mods you can run if you have a sequential box. you can run a WOT shift system. this would be great for drag racing esp if you ran FI. also with some system it means you dont need to use the clutch on up shiftS!

thanks Chris.

I *think* there was a british outfit that offered a conversion kit for the T56, I remember reading about it, but have no recollection of the company.

The Vanquish is a fully automated T56( no clutch peddle) . Changing the paddles from behind the wheel to an in-line control would be quite easy.

If you are really serious about this look up Graham White at Transmission Components in Letchworth. He is well in tune with the Aston Martin requirements.

Being "over there" you are more in the center of all of the "trick" gearbox action than any of us are (Quaife, FFD Ricardo, X-trac, etc.). Even so, if it entailed switching to straight cut or "dog" gears, and you want it to still be streetable, I would NOT do it (listen to the interior shots of a Trans Am series race car video to see what I mean). I'm SURE the A-M system is NOT this way, but like you've stated, I DREAD to even imagine what that deal costs!!
