Default LS7 Out Finally

Ok,

After 2 months the Z runs again! Wow I missed my car.

I did plenty of work on the LS7 and never got it function properly (Never Disengaged).

Pulled the tranny 2x and replaced master, slave, even shimmed and adjusted the clutch as indicated on several posts.

NO LUCK....Never properly disengaged properly, tranny always grinded.

Resurfaced my flywheel cleaned the old oem stuff and put it all back.

Runs just like before, no problems.

Sorry to rant.....but my attempt at the LS7 was the biggest waste of time and money.. ever.

So the cars finally running and the best thing that came out of this experience was the car hibernated thru the winter weather.!!

I will eventually try another clutch sometime soon, but! one that installs with no issues!

All in All! **** it my car runs!!

Sorry to hear gibbs....
Are you using an adjustable master? I could of tried that and possibly adjust the clutch pressure plate more, but I was taking a chance of wasting more time and money.

Frankly my time is more expensive. SO i copped out for now.

my 2 cents..

My point exactly. Especially when you can put a fairly stock one in a ride with no issues. I am leaning towards the Ls7 or RAM HD.

Good luck if you go with the LS7, lord know you will need it.

IF you do go with the LS7, get an adjustable master, and pray! about the only thing I didnt try.

Never again will I install a clutch without knowing it will work.

i put the LS7 in, no issues at all, using stock hydraulics, got a question....did you upgrade to '01-'02 hydraulics? I have an '02 so there were no issues, my pedal is already back at stock and i only have about 150 miles on it, all stop and go though to help break it in, you have to have the updated hydraulics or you will have problems

You know, after hearing a few of these stories about the LS7 clutch package, I think I'll be going with a tried and true LS6 clutch once my spec 3 is on it's way out. I know it won't hold the same power levels, but atleast it works and it'll drive like stock.

There's much to be said for that...there are days when I wish I had a lighter clutch pedal and didn't have to *****-foot it around to keep it from chattering.

Did you get the ls7 package or just the disk and pressure plate? I have the ls7 and love it... never had a problem after I bled it for about an hour. Everything worked right after the install. Did you manually bleed the system?

Negative...with both my Ram Powergrip and my RPS Stage III (although the RPS has been more friendly than the Ram, but still not stock friendly). I wish the LS6 could have handled my car a little better...it didn't like being driven hard at all.

Ahh, gotcha. That's one of the reasons I'm leaning towards the LS6 clutch when it is time. Sure, my spec 3 can handle the abuse I give it, but the chatter, although it doesn't happen all the time, is a PITA.
