Default I believe I need a new clutch?

Hey guys,

I believe I need a new clutch in my car due to some problems I experienced last spring/summer.

My car is on its original stock clutch and has 83000 miles. Its lived on the west coast its whole life, where there are a lot of hills obviously. I have a hard to shifting from most of the gears, it feels like its sticking in those gears (I gotta give it a good pull to get it out). Last summer I was doing a burnout and the clutch slipped and just made a huge cloud of white burning clutch smell. A lot of times it just slips when launching and I can see the car revving. Does this signal a new clutch?

I just installed longtubes in my car so now im really going to feel it slipping. I think..?

I do the usual burnout maybe 2wice a month and go to the track around 3 times a year. I drive my car mildly hard most of the time.

I was wondering what you guys would recommend for me to buying a new clutch. Im stopping on headers thats my last and only really big power mod. Im guessing im around 360-380hp. I want one that will last me a while but can hold the power im putting down.

Thanks

if that is all the flywheel power you have then maybe a LS6 clutch, you will need to update your slave cyl to '01-'02, if more power is planned you could go LS7, that is what i have, LS6 will give more grip, good to 405hp, and keep that stock feel

with your mods in sig, your no where near 380whp. id say your at about 350. If i were you i would go with the Ls7 clutch. you can get it from the sponsors pretty cheap. That way if you do decide to do more mods further down the road, your clutch will be able to handle it. and if not, like mentioned before the LS7 clutch feels just like the orignal. and yes, update your hydrolics-at least the slave.

360-380 fwhp sounds about right, but only 330-340 to the wheels, so you dont need to get anything more than an ls6 clutch most likely.
