Squeaking Fylwheel
Squeaking Fylwheel My car just started making a horrid squeaking noise. It happens from the moment I start up the car. I have checked all pullies but they all seem fine. When I climb under the car with the engine running the sound seems to be coming from the back of the motor/flywheel area. There is no vibration in the clutch or other pedals. I can sort of see where something may be rubbing the flywheel but not gouging it.
All I know is my car sounds like a POS. There is no drop in power and the only thing that seems to quiet it down is running the hell out of it a grabbing gears. Is there anything in the flywheel area that could have come loose and cause the squeaking noise? Please help me because I am at my wits end and am embarrased to drive the car.

Gotta be one of the two bearings located in that area if that is indeed where the sound is coming from. My guess would be the throwout bearing, then possibly the pilot bearing. If you replace either, I'd go ahead and replace both since you'll be taking the transmission out to do it...
