i've installed and broke in a couple spec 3's properly. great performance and decent streetabilty. if you have lots of torque and/or gear... then they work REALLY well street driving.

but i really don't think these clutches were meant for street driving... atleast not thousands and thousands of miles.

i've had great experience w/ the clutches... but i just had one spec 3 burn out on me after only a few thousand miles. (yes it was beaten on LOTS!)

ls1joe has a spec4 and has been using it for a long time... he says the reason for it lasting is that he doesn't slip the clutch. no feathering on launches, and i dont think that car sees a lot (if any) street time.

i think the spec 3 would be similar in that effect. it is built to be an "on" or "off" clutch.

I am running a spec 3+ in my 1999 camaro with 792RWHP and 835 TORQUE with no problems so far.

damn, good stuff. What master and slave cylinder are you running and how many miles are on the clutch? Also explain how you broke it in?

Stock slave but new one was installed along with the new clutch along with a billett steel flywheel.I have about 1300 miles since install.

I have a stg 3 I took out after 4K miles and about 30 track passes going mid to low 12's. I broke the tranny and upon inspection, I decided to replace the clutch/flywheel. It was wearing uneven with grooves in it. And was getting very close to the rivets.

But it was still hooking fine. I just didn't want to replace it in another 4K miles. So I put the oz700 in. I've been very pleased with it so far. 4K miles. New thickness was .300" and it now measures .265" with 4K miles on it. I have not measured the disc on my spec. But it would be a good comparison. Close to the same miles on them.

I am going to keep the spec3 for a back up. In case the tex goes out.

And the chatter during break in sucks monkey nuts. The tex did not do it at all.
