That clutch should hold up just fine. The early Stage 3+ clutches seemed to wear out easily, but I now have several friends running them with great results. Both friends are making similar power to what you are making.

I've got problems with my spec and wouldn't put another in if it was free.

their customer service is a piece of ****, products are hit or miss. And I think a lot of their problems come from people not installing them correctly. I have one and it is working like a charm now. I am going to be going TH-400 though as I actually want to race and be consistent at the track.

Just go with a stage 5. Been running it for years with no issues. It engages a bit faster then the spec 2 ive had before, so be cautious if someone needs to drive it for service work

Not chatter that bothers me just the "blowing up part".

mine is working great with 441 hp and 410 tq off spray and 6500 rpm dumps in a 3700 lb race weight car. 500+ rwhp and 540 tq on a 75 shot and 5000 rpm dumps and still going strong.

I'm only at 350 hp/ 366 torque but I've had mine in for about 11,000 miles and I beat the hell out of it. It's got a couple hundred miles worth of road racing, about 10 drag races, and the rest is daily driving. Most of which was in SoCal freeway traffic. I believe it's all about proper installation and break-in for the most part.

Well, I have said it before, and I will say it again...if any of you should ever have any issues you are welcome to call me directly. I will be happy to discuss the situation and work with you as best we can. This is not to say that I will cover every incident, but rather that I will be a communicative as possible in explainging what we see and the potential cause and effect of your issue. As many of you know, we have been building clutches for nearly 16 years and subsequently we are quite capable of helping you understand the intracacies of clutches and their function.

I have posted a fairly lengthy explanation of the need for break-in and the use of truly flat flywheels in the past. There is a link below with more specifics and suggestions. I hope this helps. Thanks,

I had a Spec III in my Cobra and LOVED it. I broke it in properly and it treated me right. It had 650 rwhp and I did 3000 rpm launches on Mickey ETs and never once gave me any slip or other concern. I have every intention of getting one for my Vette!

Mine worked badass for 3500 miles proper break in procedure was takeN.Went to the track a while back got 4 runs out of it,10.20,10.31,10.71,10.80 all within 1.40 to 1.60 60ft.Damn thing burned now it slips bad, dont know what to do,call Spec or what.I bought it directly from them, guy told me its more than enough I trusted him,now I have a 3500 mile burned clutch.I bought the whole kit with billet flywheel and all, damn thing, now IM thinking dual disk but that sucks,I woulnt think it would go out that fast.It was working so bad *** city driving no problems whats so ever, then 1 trip to the track screws it up,Spec if ur there any help is appreciated.

Thunder told me today that you NEED to use an adjustable master cylinder with this clutch too for it to work and last like it is designed to. So those of you that have issues with the SPEC clutches, part of the problem could be using the stock Gm master.

and my dealings with spec are making up my mind of going to a built th400 and calling it a day. I don't drive on the highway with it, and if I did I would get the 4l80e.
