well i was smarter than the system and paid the price for it. I did a basic rebuild about three months ago and replaced all the wear parts with STOCK SHI*. well its trashed now, so i gotta pull it apart once more. so in short steel fork, bronze fork pads1-4th, billet keys, carbon blocker rings. dont be dumb like me now i gotta do it twice, im starting to get real good at these t56s anyone know a tranny shop that hiring.

do you really need the billet keys or are you just overcompensating for not using new stuff on the last one?

If a key bends, or breaks while the car is in gear, since the factory are just stamped pieces. It could not come out of that gear, as cheap as the keys are. It's a no brainer

I saw on t56rebuilds that they only sold them for the 3/4 and 5/6. why not the 1/2? forgive my ignorance, iv never rebuilt a t56 before.

I have only seen 1/2 keys break in 2 out of 600 that we have built, and those were because the 1/2 blocker rings were totally destroyed. The (3/4,5/6) keys are $75 for 3 keys, and 3 keys will do one slider. No one makes billet 1/2 keys that I know of, you can buy a Corvette slider and get the solid keys. The vette slider is about 1/3 more money than its f-body counter part. The vette keys need to be slightly modified to fit into a f-body slider.

well if its not gona break im not gona replace it. Thanks for helping me out though, im definatly ordering from you guys.

I just dont have a lot of money alloted for the rebuild. the swap already costs a lot.

Do you have a pic of the billet keys? That would be awesome.

Cool thanks!, I think i checked a while ago and didnt see them, Ill check again. I may hold out for a less expensive bellhouse, but if I cant find one and the tranny is back together i may get it.

I notices in some builds jsut replacing the 3/4 keys and not the 5/6. I may go that route, is that stupid to save a buck?

No, that is not stupid, we don't usually do the 5/6 billet key unless requested by the customer. I only recomend if you are road racing into 5th alot or do lots of roll racing shifting to 5th gear. 95% of my customers don't powershift into 5th gear.
I can do $150 with free shipping.

cool. We salvage f-bodies, so I may be able to get a bellhousing from work.

So im gona order:

Steel 3-4 shift fork
Syncro rebuild kit
Billet 3-4 slider

do those little bronze pads really help? I took the tranny apart and they look brand new.

The bronze pads are insurance. It is possible for the stock fork pads to become damaged from extreme usage. The bronze pads gives more durability than the plastic ones.

I just rebuilt one the other day and the stock fork pads broke off the 5/6 fork and jammed up the reverse slider. well worth the little extra money for the cheap insurance

ha alright, but thats it, I cant afford any more ****! I already have to use the stock clutch until I sell my 4l60e then use that money to buy a decent one. So I have to take the tranny out again.
