Default Spec questions

Im looking to pick up either a Spec Stg 3 or 3+ and had a couple questions. first off this is going behind a cammed LT1 that will be getting a 150 shot later this summer so I need a good clutch.

1. Where is the best place to buy from? Theres a vendor on ebay selling them for 499 + 10 for shipping for the stg3 but I would rather buy from a vendor on here if I could.

2. Many say that you shouldnt slip the clutch on the street. If thats the case how do you take off from a light or what about stop and go traffic? I am going to drive mine as much as I can in the summer so any help there would be great.

Get a Spec 3+. I slipped the crap out of mine and ran it hard and it is still going. 15000+ street miles!

I've had the stage 3+ in my car since october with no problems whatsoever. It's been a good clutch and definitely a stronger pedal. I got mine from Tbyrne, they usually have some kind of deals on their spec lines. Check them out...

I have a SPEC 3 in my 590 RWHP Z. I don't slip the clutch, but I do drive it hard, and it sees slick use a handfull amount of times a year. Personally, when raccing it, I reccomend letting out the clutch till it starts to grap, and then ease into the clutch quickly but not a stab so to speek. This will depend mostly on your power level, and how sticky your tires are. With slicks, I pretty much slip it.

As for the best prices on them, I'd shop around. I would bet the best prices from anywhere will be one of the three between TByrne, Speed Inc., and Thunder Racing.

i just mentioned it because i was told by a sponsor that a stage 3 or more needs an adjustable master to ensure the clutch will stay together.

use the shim, it works fine. the adjustable you can add latter but the shim works fine and if you do not put it in there you will wish you did.

As the istallation sheet says, you should use the shim with F-body LS1's though the original poster has an LT1 for which this is not applicable. You are fine using the stock hydraulics--people of been doing this for years--though an adjustable Master is fine as well. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

I don't have an adjustable on my car but I have used the shim on both of my spec3's. You need to shim even if you have an adjustable mc.

Goes in between your slave and the tranny. Basically you slip the shim on first before the slave goes on. And it's a bitch to try and line it up. If you don't do it correctly you get a hydraulic leak.

yea the shim is a pain to put in and if you just did not put it in and put the whole tranny back in and drive it around and then say "I need to put that shim in" then you wish you would have done it the first time you had it out.
