upgraded slave T56 ? from what year ??

why is the upgraded (late model?) slave better then the pre 2001/02 (?) slave for the T56 ?

and how can i tell which one is which?

i can't tell you whats different, but i can tell you that if you order a new one you will be getting one for an '01-02. GM doesn't sell the old design anymore.
