Default how does the reverse hook up on a T56?

Hey i'm somewhat new to the t56 setups, i got a pretty nice 01' camaro ls1 t56, mated to my ls1, (it's going into a hybrid 240sx setup) and i got a shifter, but i'm trying to figure out the shaft dealy that's on the drivers side, i'm pretty sure that's the reverse right? could someone show me a pic of what i'm missing? thanx!!!!!!

here's a pic of the engine setup,

and one of my shifter setup, do i need anything else? thanx!

The trans picture shows the reverse solenoid( at the shifter tower in the rear)missing and the skip shift solenoid missing. Although you could just plug the skip hole, I think you will find that a solenoid is easier to get than a plug. The skip solenoid has a white plug and the reverse is black( they are NOT interchangeable)

oh is the shift skip like for the reverse lights or whatnot? sorry about all the newb questions! and so where does the black linkage go? i though it goes into the driver's side of the tranny, in those threaded holes....

a long story short, if, i plug the holes, can i simply run it the way it is? with the shifter in it, and that's all....

You will be able to run it with just the holes plugged ( sort of but not well). You will get a skip shift code if you do not reprogram the 'puter. You also run the risk( a significant one) of clashing reverse when you don't want it. You can use a skip eliminator to deal with that solenoid but I would suggest you install the reverse one( even with the skip skift eliminator you will have to plug the hole with something & the solenoid is the best for that). The reverse is installed in the shift tower in that right angled device and it has the black plug. The skip shift sol takes the white plug.Do you need solenoids?

RH4... I know you have a handle ont hings...but I just wanted to show you this pic if you havent seen it. Its a good help for figuring out the trans electronics layout.

You dont need the skip shift solenoid (CAGS) as others have mentioned. You will want the reverse light switch, reverse lock out solenoid, and the VSS of course. The reverse light switch isnt in the picture...its on the other side of the trans. The passenger side...

The reverse lock out it easy to hook up, and its a nice feature to keep you outta reverse when you dont want it. I have mine hooked up to a switch in my hurst shifter ball.

Ive seen people use plugs in the skip shift hole...just gotta do a search and find the thread size...should be able to find a plug to go in there....

Good luck! Sorry if I explained anything you already knew!
