Default Another grinding sound thread...

Just last night taking off from work I noticed a grinding sound coming slowly out of 1st gear. To give you an idea it sounds like a rear differential going out but not as loud and it is up front, nowhere near the back. I took off kinda fast in 1st and it didnt do it. Slowly took off in 1st and it did then slowly shifted to 2nd and got it again but just a tad.

Just had a new exhaust system installed 2 days ago so I cant tell if something is knocking from underneath or its the tranny. Any ideas?

Also I was looking @ T-56 rebuilds and all of their packages are for sliders..Im not really sure what I'd need but it seems that sliders arent part of the actual gearing in the tranny.

Well...I guess you could say it happens at about 1k-1200. It only happens during a slow take off or if I stay in 1st gear and go, let off and go again.

I think all T-56s do that. Or yours AND mine are getting old. The solution: Stop driving like a granny!!

but seriously, I don't think it's anything to be worried about.

Mine does that too, with 28k on the clock. My buddies does it too, his has 47k on it. It's pretty normal as long as your shifts aren't feeling rough or crappy.

sounds similar to what mine is doing. only mine does it at higher rpms if i'm shifting a little quicker (not banging gears) it'll also make the grinding sound if i push the clutch in and raise the revs to 3k. stops when i let out on the clutch though. i'm lost. i'm droppin the tranny tomorrow to take a look at stuff.
