Default DOT 3 or DOT 4 for clutch hydraulics?

I have heard people say to use both. Also, synthetic fluid or non-syn?

I use some cheap *** DOT 3 but my braided line is wrapped with heater hose to keep it from getting hot. I would recommend wrapping the braided line with heater hose to anyone in order to keep the line temps down.

Technically speaking ALL modern brake fluid is synthetic. Where people get confused is when they are told NOT to use silicone based (D.O.T. 5) fluid, thinking this is the only synthetic. As far as I know we should NEVER use DOT 5 silicone anywhere in our cars.

The Ate Super Blue Racing/Type 200 are just fine in both our brake system and clutch hydraulics. As are the Valvoline, Neo 610, Motul 600 RBF, Castrol SRF, et., etc.
