Default 1-2 shift grind question...

If the 1-2 shift on a T56 has been grinding the 1-2 shift intermittently for the last two years, would that mean a synchro is out, or possibly the gear is worn, or both? Wanting to buy this car, but don't want to open up a can of worms.

It could also be a clutch release issue.
You would not know what was wrong w/ the trans internally till it was disassembled & inspected.
It one of theose fix it while your in there & do it right the first time kind of things.
Re-build it & upgrade it & not worry about it anymore IMO.

Well it may have started as a clutch release issue but if you've been clash shifting( even intermittently) for 2 years, you now have worn synchros from it.
