Anyone ever heard of having to grind the center pin on a 2002?
We have a 99 Camaro with a 2002 carrier from SLP. It's a 3 series. We're trying to put a 4.10 gear in the car, but it looks like the pin needs ground on or something to make it go in the carrier. Any info on this? Anyone had this prob. before? Thanks.

Sounds like you have the Torsen differential. Yes, the "thrust block" (square center pin that slides into the center of the diff) needs grinding to fit past the fatter ring gear.
A little chamfer on the l/h aft corner of the thrust block will take care of it. The $$$ alternative is to buy SLP's "paddle kit" (basically, the thrust block cut in half, allowing the 2 halves to slide together).
I have the Torsen in my '98. BTDT. Here's a picture of yer diff & thrust block: http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...&SHOWEMAIL=Off

SSINFUL, thanks! That is what I needed to hear. I wish I would have known that before we tore down the car. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />
I guess it is time to grind a little. Thanks again.
